About Your First Aid Trainers

William and Fiona Robinson are both qualified first aid trainers, with many years of experience in relevant fields, i.e. medical, first aid, instruction & training.

Fiona Robinson

Fiona Robinson First Medic Trainer

Fiona was a nurse for almost three decades, operating in various fields, including teaching.  After leaving the NHS she qualified as a coach and a solution focused hypnotherapist.  Such a depth of experience is invaluable in the field of first aid training.

William Robinson

William Robinson First Medic trainer
William’s career in aviation required him to be qualified as a first aider, which he was for many years, beginning in 1999.  He was also previously an instructor in both the military and the civilian world. This enables him to bring about considerable teaching and instruction experience to the classroom.

William and Fiona have combined their strengths to form a partnership and are qualified as trainers to teach first aid and emergency first aid to companies and individuals.  The training is provided under the umbrella of Worksafe Training Systems, who operate under the guidelines of the Health and Safety Executive in the UK.

First Medic is based in Frome, Somerset and we do all our first aid training courses in Frome.

The courses are delivered across Frome at various venues (the Cheese & Grain, the Town Hall, the Lighthouse), depending on availability and class sizes.  Please enquire by phone, email or the webform about forthcoming dates and availability.

If you are a business and would like us to come to you and deliver a course specifically for your employees, we will be delighted to do so.  We have done this many times.  One of the benefits to you is that we will be able to focus on some of the specific risks you face in your organisation.  Also, if you require the three day First Aid at Course for example, you do not have to do this on three consecutive days, but can time it over three weeks if you wish, so as not to disrupt your business the three days running.  Please send us a message to enquire about this and we will be more than happy to discuss options with you.

First Aid at Work is our most comprehensive course. It is delivered over 3 days (18 hours), and will qualify you to deliver First Aid at Work. This complies with the legal requirement for employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.

The First Aid at Work course is designed chiefly for workplaces in medium to high risk environment.

We can also deliver this course in the blended learning format, which involves an online study course of 6 hours. This online part comes complete with progress checks tests and a final exam, followed by 2 days in the classroom (12 hours).

The Emergency First Aid at Work course takes one day (6 hours). It is designed to qualify you as an Emergency First Aider at Work. This is similar to the three-day First Aid at Work course, with the exception of some injuries and illnesses which are not covered.  Examples of these include poisoning, suspected spinal injuries, anaphylactic shock, or diabetes.  As such, it is considered to be suitable for employers operating in a lower risk environment.

Employers are responsible their own risk assessment and selecting which course is appropriate for them in their own workplace.

The Basic Life Support & AED is the only course not officially recognised by the Health and Safety Executive.  This is a popular course aimed at any member of the public or organisation. It is designed so that any person can learn basic emergency life-saving skills which could be of use in a potential life-threatening emergency.  These include Sudden Cardiac Arrest, severe bleeding, or choking.  The course duration is only 4 hours, and it includes plenty of hands-on practise to make students feel confident in being able to apply those skills in a live situation.
